Red House, at Lots 65–67 High Street in Kingston, is a nineteenth-century timber house painted the deep red that gives it its name. It served as the official residence of Dr Cheddi Jagan, Premier of British Guiana, from 1961 to 1964, and today houses the Cheddi Jagan Research Centre, which holds his papers and tells the story of his life and of the country's road to independence. The National Trust lists it as a national monument.
